Week 3 - 4 Term 3

 Kaya,

Can you believe how quickly time flies? We've already conquered two weeks, and now we're ready to take on the next adventure together.

Your children have been absolute rockstars, tackling challenges with a smile and supporting each other like true champs. Let's keep that amazing energy going as we dive into these next weeks. Now, I don't know about you, but I'm really hoping that week 3 & 4 bring us some much-needed sunshine. Those cold mornings have been a bit of a struggle, haven't they? But hey, we've shown that a little chill can't dampen our spirits!

Learning Intentions for the fortnight

Spelling: Students will be learning the long vowel sound with the "e" on the end in the upcoming weeks.

Writing: We look at different procedures and learn the parts to "how-to" do something. The vocabulary is made up of simple and clear words that give you clear directions, like action words (verbs), words that show order (first, next, finally), and words that tell you how to do something (carefully, slowly).

Mathematics:

Week 1 Children learn to skip count through practice, repetition, visual aids, songs, hands-on activities, and gradual progression to grasp the concept and apply it to mathematical problems.

Week 2 Students will learn repeated addition by understanding how to add a number to itself multiple times, which serves as the basis for comprehending multiplication.

Mission Mart:

This Friday, the 4h of August, appreciate and understand Mary as our Patroness and to celebrate we will be celeb. To celebrate, we will be celebrating the Feast of Our Lady Mary by attending a liturgy in the hall and rating the Feast of Our Lady Mary by attending a liturgy in the hall and will be having our annual Mission Fete Fundraiser. This is a day to appreciate and understand Mary as our Patroness and to understand and celebration the Feast of the Assumption. It is also to raise awareness of those less fortunate in the world and to “give” as an antidote to appreciate and understand Mary as our Patroness and to celebrate need. Your child is asked to bring money, no more than $20, to buy items or pay for an activity.

1K will be holding a temporary tattoo stall where Year six students will be helping to place these on the students. This week 1K will set the stall up and learn the purpose of stalls and this great event

100-day Party:

This Wednesday is our Year 1 100 Day Party - a day of fun, learning, and a shared lunch. Boys, please bring savory dishes, and girls, please bring sweet treats. We can't wait to make it an unforgettable celebration for both classes! To ensure everyone's comfort, we have the necessary facilities available. There will be an oven to heat up the savoury dishes that the boys will bring and a fridge to safely store the sweet treats that the girls will contribute until lunchtime.

The children will be delighted to take part in exciting and educational activities revolving around the number 100, enhancing their learning experience while enjoying the festivities.

1K Boys Playing Soccer

We have noticed instances of rough play during recess and lunch soccer with the 1K boys. To ensure a safe and respectful environment, there will be no soccer this week. Instead, we will focus on teaching the boys the rules and importance of fair play. Please talk to your son about the significance of good sportsmanship on the field. Our aim is to create an inclusive and enjoyable soccer experience for all students. Your support in reinforcing these values at home is greatly appreciated. Once we are confident in their understanding, regular soccer sessions will resume. Thank you for your cooperation.

News - this week

Butter Factory Excursion

This excursion is cancelled due to only one excursion per class.

Phonics Folders

A big shout out to the wonderful parents that have been making these folders up for the students to learn how to put words together by their sounds.

VIA Character Strength – Judgement

Judgment is like a tool that helps us decide what is right or wrong, safe or dangerous, good or not so good. It's a way our brains gather information about something or someone and then make a choice based on what we know.

For example, when you meet a new friend, your brain collects information about how they behave, how they treat others, and how they make you feel. Based on that information, you make a judgment about whether they might be a good friend to have.
